Star-Studded Women’s Field

This year’s women’s field promises to outshine the men’s. Last year’s winner, who returns after a rare defeat in a recent race in Abu Dhabi, is reportedly in excellent form, with her coach aiming for a world record pace.

She will face tough competition from a Turkish runner, a World and Olympic medallist, making her half marathon debut. She is eager for pacers to set a record pace and is known for her aggressive racing style.

Another strong contender is an Ethiopian runner who finished second last year. A former middle-distance runner with a powerful finishing kick, she placed third in the Berlin Marathon at last year’s world championships and was the last to beat a renowned Kenyan runner in the Bangalore 10km last season.

The Dutch star, training with her record-holding cousin in Kenya, is also in fine shape. Known for her resilience and consistent performances on both track and cross-country, she is not intimidated by the competition.

Competitive Kenyan Contenders

Kenya’s challenge will be led by a World Championship 4th placer, a renowned front runner with an impressive marathon time. She aims to reclaim the title last won by a Kenyan runner a couple of years ago.

Overall, 13 elite women in this year’s race have personal best times under 70 minutes, making it one of the strongest fields ever in a women’s half marathon. With such high-caliber athletes, record books may need updating once more!
